Have you ever had one of those days where software that's supposed to be reliable fails on you? Working on a document today, I received this strange error:
The list of common French (France) AutoCorrections is not available. This feature is not currently installed. Would you like to install it now?

I simply clicked "no" and was on my way working again. When I clicked back to that window, the message came up again. I could not really find a whole lot on the internet, except for one fix that seemed to correct it.

Instead of digging through a pile of CDs to find the Word installation discs, this tip seemed to help:
  • Select all using Ctrl + A (to select the entire document)
  • Navigate to Tools > Language > Set Language > Check the language you prefer
  • Select English (US)
  • Click OK
The trouble probably manifested because of some weird French characters or a bad cut copy and paste of French formatted text. Changing it all back to English (US) should do the trick. The message hasn't popped up since (for this document anyway).

Happy word processing.
