Hitachi UX21516 (LP700) Replacement Projection LCD TV Lamp “How-To” Guide
This guide is being published to show how easy it is to replace your original Hitachi Lamp.
DISCLAIMER:
— Do NOT purchase generic brand lamps such as LTI, APO or third-party
manufacturers such as OSRAM. These lamps were NOT engineered with and
for your TV…only your Philips lamp has been engineered to work
flawlessly and output the best possible color. Above that, it just
doesn’t make sense to choose an aftermarket lamp for a $5-$10
difference (and in many cases they are more expensive!!). Be a smart
consumer and do your research! Discount-Merchant.com promises to be the low price leader in all Projection TV Lamps they carry…if this is not true, let us know and we’ll fix it!

Necessities:
1. Standard Philips Screwdriver
2. Pair of Pliers
3. A new Philips Lamp
4. 15 minutes of your time
Here is the Hitachi Lamp Enclosure, remember you can click on any image to enlarge!
Step 1: First thing we need to remove is the metal cage…
If we pull outwards and away from the plastic enclosure, the metal cage should come loose…In the pictures above and below you can see a groove where you can place your thumb inside and pull.
Now you can slide it off the plastic enclosure…
With the metal cage off, we can see our lamp and the screws holding it down…
Notice that the original lamp is manufactured by Philips. Your original lamp is also a 100W/120W
Notice there are two screws…one on either side holding the lamp in place…we need to unscrew these with our Philips screwdriver, but first…
Let’s unscrew the screw holding the connect plug in place.
With that removed, we head back to unscrew the lamp…
Now here is the lamp and enclosure apart…very simple, isn’t it?!?
