Places to buy your DLP or LCD lamp

With so many choices over the internet, where's a good place to go to purchase DLP or LCD projection lamps? I'll have tips on what you should look for when you scour the internet for deals, and which deals to take. Also, I have a list of retailers with good feedback and testimonials for you to consider!

    What is Generic?

If you’re buying a generic high performance lamp, be prepared to eat the cost of its usage. An OEM product may last 3 times as long for only a few extra dollars. There is risk of premature explosion and loss of lumens associated with purchasing an off-brand, or generic lamp product. So what is a generic lamp and how does it compare?

    DLP Lamp Information

DLP stands for Digital Light Processing and is a trademark owned by Texas Instruments. DLP technology has been around for sometime, but is quickly being adopted for economical, high definition televisions. DLP uses a light source, a color wheel & ballast, and a DMD, or digital micromirror device to project onto a screen to create sharp, illustrious picture. Some major DLP manufacturers are Samsung, RCA, and Mitsubishi.  Other manufacturers of similar technologies include Panasonic, Sony, and Philips.
The Hitachi UX21511 Enclosure at first glance is very similar to the Hitachi UX21513, UX21517, UX21518, and other Hitachi enclosures, but it’s different ;)
JVC D-ILA TVs have a serious flaw...and actually, they've always had this flaw: the lamp. Millions of consumers purchased (and continue to do so), JVC D-ILA Projection TVs because of the outstanding picture quality. Compared side by side to Samsung, Panasonic, Sony, and the rest of the gang...these D-ILA TVs look amazing. The specifications are the state of the art, cosmetically they are beautiful, and they are among some of the lightest "projection" TVs on the marketplace. But they have a week point--the lamp.

    — Do NOT purchase generic brand lamps such as LTI, APO or third-party manufacturers such as OSRAM. These lamps were NOT engineered with and for your TV…only your Philips lamp has been engineered to work flawlessly and output the best possible color. Above that, it just doesn’t make sense to choose an aftermarket lamp for a $5-$10 difference (and in many cases they are more expensive!!). Be a smart consumer and do your research!
